Reading

Eden: "Grandma? Did you get this cup from IKEA?"
(Mom and Grandma confused how she knows this)
Grandma: "Yes."
Mom: "Wait, did you tell her it was from IKEA?"
Grandma: "No...."
(Eden looks at the bottom of the cup)
Eden: "I.K.E.A. IKEA."

Sure enough, IKEA was spelled at the bottom of the cup. The first word she read without prompting or help....

IKEA.

Drawing

Today Eden and I were drawing. For the first time, she drew a person.

I started off by drawing a circle with hair (although, she knows how to draw circles). Then from there she drew eyes, nose, mouth, body, arms, legs, and hands and feet (little circles on the end of each arm and leg) all by herself.

She's getting so big!

Doctor's Appointment

Eden and Leila both had a doctor's appointment Wednesday.

Their Stats:

Eden

Height: 34 inches
Weight: 26 3/4 lbs
Head: 20 inches

Leila

Height: 25 inches
Weight: 17 lbs
Head: 16 1/2 inches

Overall....Eden is about the 25th percentile overall. Leila is about 95th percentile overall (except her head is more like 70% I think).

Hills and "Bumpy"s

A Milestone for Eden:

Eden has finally become daring enough to walk on the grass that slopes. She's usually really quite strict with herself and stays on the sidewalk because she says the grass is "too bumpy".

After trying to teach her that she can walk on the grass, she's finally overcome the fear of "bumpy grass" and will even go DOWN the hill in our front yard. She's slowly becoming more active and daring when it comes to the physical stuff.

The Toddler Bed

Today I decided to try the toddler bed again....this time for nap instead of night time.

She got inside the bed nicely and I thought that maybe if I took a shower then she'd fall asleep to the noises (sometimes that helps her).

I got out the shower....quiet....did it work?

A few minutes pass by and I hear...singing...

"Ten little alien boys...and girls."
(She says "aliens" instead of "Indians")

Followed by...

"Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!"
(repeat over and over)

Followed by...

COMPLETE silence...

Guess she got tired of singing and zonked right out.

Two hours later she woke up from nap right where she left off....singing Happy Birthday....

One to Thirteen

I officially can say that Eden counts to 13. For a while Eden would count, skipping numbers or not always remember the numbers. But for a few days now she's been really good about counting all the way from 1 to 13.

Less Afraid

Eden's a chicken...its alright, I love her anyway.

But today was a brave day for Eden. We went swimming at the Lehi Rec Center and she found that she loved going down the water slides ALL BY HERSELF.

We went a few months back and she wouldn't go down the slides....or even go CLOSE to the plastic Toucan and Monkey that nicely decorate the slide.
