Five

Eden: "Can I drive mom?"
Me: "No. You're not old enough yet."
Eden: "Yes I am."
Me: "You're only two."
Eden: "No mom. YOU'RE two. I'm five."

Leila's 6 Month Check-Up....at 7 Months of Age

At the doctor's on Monday....Leila was a bit over 19 lbs.

We had to get another check up today.....where she hit the 20 lb mark.

(Going from memory) Leila's about 75% height, 70% head circumference, and 95% weight.

Ferdinand

For Christmas, Eden got a book and CD of the book "Ferdinand". (About a bull who lived in Spain and loved to sit and smell flowers but ended up being the bull to fight in Madrid.)

The CD has a man with a Spanish accent.

Eden will now quote the book on occasion....in a Spanish accent.

Things like, "The other bulls liked to run and jump and butt their heads."

Planets

Eden knows her planets (although she usually needs help with the START and occasionally with "Earth" oddly enough).

We got a balloon and Eden told me,

"Mom. Blow up the balloon so we can make Saturn."

No Place Like Home

I've learned that Leila is pretty much afraid of any business type place. If she's at our house or someone else's house (with me in sight) she's fine.

This week we went to a few appointments and other places....Leila wasn't a fan. She cries any time there's a sign that I may put her down on the ground, on a table, etc.

Nurse....not her friend.
Doctor...not her friend.
Anyone talking to her and "working"....not her friend.

Hands and Knees

Leila has recently started getting on her hands and knees in a crawling position. She still can't crawl, but she tries and ends up scooting backwards (making her frustrated). But she's getting close!

Esophagus

While eating, when Eden swallows she often says

"My food is going down my esophagus!"

(Then its followed by her saying "down the middle intestine and large intestine"...even though I try to tell her that its the SMALL intestine and not the MIDDLE intestine....but whatever.)

Thank you Magic School Bus.

But yesterday after brushing her teeth, she spit into the toilet, flushed the toilet, and said:

"Look! My toothpaste is going down the toilet's esophagus!"

Encouragement

Eden, Leila, and I went to a little indoor playground with my sister, Laura, Trey, baby Ramona, and my mom. We let Trey and Eden go play, while we all ate some lunch.

We watch as Trey helps pull Eden up to higher places than she can't go by herself.

Then Trey comes running.

Trey: "Beefy! Beefy! Come here!"

He grabs me by the finger and leads me to Eden who is in the middle of a climbing area causing a traffic jam.

Me: "Eden, what's going on? Do you need some help?"
Eden: "Mom, Trey needs some encouragement."

A little confused, I try to figure out what's going on.

Me: "You need to keep climbing so other people can go up too."
Eden: "No, I want to get down."
Me: "Ok, let's get you down."

I start to help her down...when Trey grabs me.

Trey: "No! Eden go up!"
Eden: "Trey wants me to go up."
Me: "Do you want to go up?"
Eden: "No, I want to get down!"

I help her down.

Apparently Eden saying Trey needed "encouragement" meant that he needed to be encouraged to let her climb down instead of up.

All I have to ask is....What two year old uses the word "encouragement"? I guess Eden does...

Miriana

Eden has a cousin named Miriana. She's often called Miri for short.

All the cousins went to Jungle Jim's together and Miri's favorite rides were the swings (that you sit in and it goes around and around) and the merry-go-round.

Since then, Eden will sometimes pretend to be on a merry-go-round....except, she calls is a
"Miri-go-around"
