9th Article of Faith

At the end of church, I was late coming out because I was helping the primary kids pass off the 9th Article of Faith in order to win prizes in the treasure chest.

Eden saw the prizes and immediately wanted one.

Me: "Sorry Eden. Its for primary."
Eden: "Can I PLEASE have one of those?"
Me: "Those are if you know your articles of faith."
(Eden looks at me with sad and confused eyes.)
Me: "You can only have one if you can say the 9th article of faith."
Eden: (thinks for a second) "The ninth article of faith. Can I have one?"

Me and my big mouth. She said what I told her to say...

Luckily one of the primary girls who passed off her 9th article of faith came up to Eden and said, "I passed mine off but I don't want anything from there. She can have mine." Eden was extremely happy.

Helicopter Man

We went to Eliza and Chuck's house today.

Their son, Jack, just got a new toy....a helicopter with a pilot.

Eden enjoyed playing with it...but definitely in a GIRLY fashion.

(Holding the pilot and pretending he's talking)
"Where's my hairbrush? I need my hairbrush."
(Takes the helicopter man out of the helicopter)
"Oh, I forgot my purse. I'm gonna quickly go get it!"

Only a girl plays with a helicopter and pilot that way....

Spitting Goose

I've got a secret sister in my ward and this week she gave me a ceramic duck with a small bucket next to it.

Eden was playing with it when I heard spitting sounds.

Me: "Eden, what are you doing?"
Eden: "Spitting."
Me: "You're not supposed to spit honey."
Eden: "The duck is spitting his toothpaste into the toilet."

Guess that's what you get when you tell her that the only time spitting is ok is when its toothpaste in the toilet.

Daddy Always Wins...

I felt so good today during lunch when Eden said,

"Mom, you're my BEST FRIEND!"

Until dad came home...

(I was in the other room feeding Leila when I heard this...)

"Dad, you're my BEST FRIEND and I love you so so much!"

Man, beat out by Tyson again.

Laughter

Within the past two days, Leila has laughed out loud at Tyson and me. But not when Tyson tries to tickle her...she gets really upset when you do that. But if you talk to her and she's happy then sometimes she does a breathy laugh that is adorable!

Old McDonald's Farm

Eden likes to sing songs...especially in the car.

She often sings Old McDonald. And lately she's been getting creative. Old McDonald not only has cows and sheep and chickens....Old McDonald also has a spider, Eden, baby, mommy, etc.

Today's version:

Old McDonald had a farm. EIEIO.
And on his farm he had a mommy. EIEIO.
With a cook cook here.
And a cook cook there.
Cook cook everywhere.
Old McDonald had a farm. EIEIO.

Obviously I'm known for my cooking.

Oh No...

We went to a craft store today...just to get out of the house....

And for the first time ever, Eden BROKE something.

Luckily it was only $2.

But I had her take it to the cashier and say, "I broke it. Sorry." I offered to pay for it but they were nice enough to say, "don't worry about it". I had to her do all that even though I don't think she understood what was really going on. But she did realize when she broke it that she did something bad....I could tell by the little look on her face as she looked up at me and said, "I broke it."

Little Miss Muffett

Eden looking at a piece of paper in the car...

Eden: "I'm reading a book about spiders."

Me: "Oh, what does it say?"

Eden: "Little Miss Muffet sat on her...stuff.
Eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider...and ate her.
And scared Miss Muffett away."

Feeling Boring

While lying down and watching a movie, Eden turned to me and said,

"Mom, I'm feeling boring."

Pretty Little Dancer

Eden stretched out her leg as high as she could and held it up with her hand.

Then she exclaimed,
"Mommy! Look! I'm a pretty little dancer!"

Letting Mommy Sleep

Some nights are worse than others for me in terms of sleep.

This morning Eden woke up earlier than I was hoping.

She asked for some milk and I decided "why not" and gave it to her. I tried to stay awake, but I was struggling. All she wanted to do was get on my bed and play around with me.

So I said, "Eden, I'm really tired today. If I put on a movie, will you let me sleep some more?" She said, "OK mom." I put on a movie and she didn't come into my room until after it was over to say, "Mommy, the movie is all done."

I very much appreciated that.

Growing Up

After vacation there was a rough "adjusting" phase for Eden.

Then an idea hit me....she's growing up and doesn't want to do the same things she used to do.

Now one of Eden's favorite things to do is "help mommy cook". She also tends to eat the food better knowing that she was a part of making it.

Family Pick Up Time

I decided to install a new "activity" to our nighttime schedule. Its called "Family Pick Up Time".

If you haven't already guessed, after dinner we go around the whole house as a family and put everything away back in its place....making things much easier on me.

I was afraid that Eden wouldn't take to this idea so well...cause she doesn't like helping to clean up and pick up her toys, etc. But turns out, she really likes it! She excitedly reminded me about it the other day and today she even turned off a movie right in the middle so she could clean with everyone.

Awesome.

p.s. I realize that this may just be a phase...but I hope this phase lasts a long, long time.
