How to Get Around Clean Up

Leila really wanted to play dress up with her dolls.  But to find the items she wants she would have to dump out the box of things...which also means cleaning up the box of doll things when she is finished.  Leila's way around it:

"Dad, could you dump out this box of doll stuff so you can clean it up after?"

Not very discrete.

Zootopia

After our "family fun night" to the movie theater to watch Zootopia...the girls were scared to death.  Leila's prayer tonight...

"...and please bless that we won't have nightmares from Zootopia tonight."

Leila Makes Me Laugh

Two experiences with Leila these past few days....

The other day I looked over at Leila and she was "reading" a book to Molly.  I thought, "Oh, that's so cute!"  It was a farm animal book that we got from the library.  Then I started to listen to the book.

"The cow says 'baaa'.  

The goat says 'baaa'.  

The horse says 'baaa'."

Oh the stinker...

A few days later Leila was asked to say the prayer.  Part of her prayer...

"And bless us to be good.  

Bless us to be very good.  

Bless us to be the best ever!"

Perhaps she's repenting?

Jack Johnson

We're riding in the car, listening to Jack Johnson.

Leila:  "That Jack Johnson is a good rock star!"

If Only You Could See Her Facial Expression...

I always think "I'd write more funny things that Leila says and does on the blog, but it is just never as funny written down as it is in person...cause I love Leila's facial expressions and body language.  I mean, I LOVE them.

The other day she was singing the primary song, "Every Star is Different" and feeling very proud of herself.

She was spinning in circles while singing.

Mid-song...*pause*...

"I'm telling you, I'm getting easy at this song..."

You could tell by the way she looked that she was saying, "I'm goooood."

Broken Heart

Leila had come out of her room a million times with various excuses to avoid going to bed.

Dad: "Leila, you need to go to bed. It breaks my heart when you won't listen to me and go to bed."

Leila's reply: "Dad, but it breaks my heart when you don't obey me and cuddle with me at night." Followed by a sly and innocent smile...

Dad's heart melted. It was impossible to keep from laughing. She knows how to get what she wants. Hopefully she uses her powers for good.

Playing Tennis

A few people went to play tennis and took the kids so they could just run around and play. It was a hot day outside. After a while of running and playing in the sun we hear Leila...

Leila: "Dad! I think I'm feverish!"
Dad: " I think you are just hot from the sun."
Leila: "No. I'm feverish!"

Movies and Scriptures

Leila wanted to watch Toy Story 3 but had to go potty first.

Leila: "I'm going to go potty first, then watch Toy Story....chapter 3....verse 9."

Old People

Me and Leila were playing on the swings.

Leila:  "Underdog!"

Me:  "OK."

(Push her and go back to my swing)

(Twist myself on the swing)

(Leila looks at me)

Leila:  "No twist mom.  You old people.  Get dizzy."

Leila's Baby

Dad pretended to sit on Leila while she was lying on the bed.

Leila:  "NO DAD! OFF!"

Dad:  "Oh, I can't sit here?"

Leila:  "No.  Baby!"

(Points to belly)

Dad:  "You don't have a baby in there."

Leila:  "Food baby."

Okay, I Can Take A Hint

Whenever I give Leila a piece of paper and something to write with...I guarantee that one thing will happen.

She'll want me to draw something for her.

A family....our family.

"Mom"
"Dad"
"EeeEee." (Eden)
"Me" or "YeaYa" (Leila)
"Baby"

She ALWAYS wants me to draw a picture of our family...with another baby in it.

Okay, I get the hint.

Leila LOVES babies. And apparently she doesn't feel our family will be complete without one.

Leila's Song

Leila started singing a song....It went like this....

"Dad! Dad! Dad! *kiss*"

Why Are You Laughing?

Lately I've been singing Leila to sleep. Sometimes she likes it, sometimes she doesn't.

For nap today I wrapped Leila up tight in a blanket, rocked her, and started to sing.

Leila would cry and try to get away.

Then laugh.

Then cry again.

Then laugh again.

I couldn't figure it out. What was going on? Why was she laughing?

Then I figured it out after a bit.

I have this "thing" where I can't seem to use my mouth without instinctively raising and lowering my eyebrows at the same time (I've been mocked about this before).

Every time my eyebrows went up while I sang, Leila laughed.

She was laughing....at me...and my eyebrows. Soon my singing stopped, because I couldn't help but laugh too.

Leila's Favorite Thing

Leila's new favorite thing to do is....smile and talk to herself in the mirror.

She actually also prefers to talk to mom and dad through the mirror as well sometimes. She'll look at us while in the mirror and talk and smile and talk some more.

She loves it. We love it too.

Fist Bumps

Its pretty hard to get Leila to laugh...but something she found funny...

Fist bumps.

One day her hands were in fists, so I made a fist and bumped her little fists and make a sound like it exploded.

She found this really funny and would laugh every time I did it...until I got my camera out. She was over the excitement by then.
